  • Associate Professor Dr. Thanomporn Laohajaratsang is the former Director of the Information Technology Service Center (May 2005-June 2017) where she now works as the consultant and currently is an Associate Professor in the Department of Learning Technology, Faculty of Education, Chiang Mai University, Thailand.

  • At present, she is a visiting scholar at IUPUI, Indianapolis, US. (20172018) and conducting her research on designing effective pedagogical approaches with next-generation LMS for students in higher education.
  •    
  • She has also served on numerous policy advisory committees in ICT and education in Thailand, including Thailand Digital Government Academy (TDGA), the Committee of the National Association of Educational Technology, Thailand, Steering Committee of ICT Chiang Mai City and Thai Committee for the 1st Asia Pacific MOOC Summit.

  • Since joining Chiang Mai University, she has been contributing to digital development, ICT education and learning within the universities, including headship of the University in providing quality ICT-related services, offering e-Learning programs in several fields and providing workshops/trainings for faculties so that they will be capable of integrating ICT in their teaching practices.

  • Her experience involves working as an international researcher for Centre for the Advancement of Research and Development in Educational Technology (CARDET), an e-learning expert and a resource person for UNESCO Bangkok, and a consultant on public and private global learning projects and ICT-integrated learning to several conglomerates such as Charoen Pokphand Food Public Company, PTT Public Company Limited, Institute of the Promotion of Teaching Science and Technology and the Thai Ministry of Education.

  • In the past, she used to be a visiting scholar at Open University of Japan, (former knows as National Institute of Multimedia Education), during 2003-2004 in Japan and the College of Education, Indiana University at Bloomington 2010-2011.

  • For over 15 years, she has administered a number of new media design projects to support innovative pedagogies such as developing high-quality e-Learning courseware content for several organizations including Chiang Mai University, Thailand Securities Institute, PTT Public Company Limited and Thailand Cyber University. One of her outstanding works was managing the development of locally-made LMS called Knowledge-Creator (KC), an awarded LMS from Asia E-Learning Network (AEN) Consortium. She has also initiated the development of educational games called Eurasia and Eternal Story, the first two MMORPG games in Thailand which integrate the subject contents within the game design. Her more recent works include a national project with the Institute of the Promotion of Teaching Science and Technology, Ministry of Education, Thailand to develop K-12 digital media and e-books on Mathematics and Science.

  • Her academic work involves mainly offering graduate courses on innovative learning technologies and designing future learning environments with the use of digital technologies.
  •    
  • Her main research interests include digital innovation in teaching and learning, integration of ICT educational system and design of future learning environments. Her past research works involve e-Learning Readiness of Thailands higher educational institutions and current status of ICT in Thailand.

  • She is also on an editorial board and is a reviewer for national and international journals including International Journal for Educational Media and Technology, the Internet and Higher Education and Educational Journals of Kasetsart University, Khon Kaen University, and Naresuan University.

  • Her three textbooks on ICT in education titled Innovative Educational Information Technology for Learning in Thailand 4.0 Era (2018, just published), titled Designing e-Learning (2002) and Multimedia CAI design (in Thai) (2001) were considered the first of its kind in Thailand.
